PADI Adventures in Diving Programme

“Do you have what it takes? To become a PADI Adventure Diver, you need your PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) and the desire to experience thrilling adventures.”

The idea...
The PADI ‘Adventures in Diving’ Programme is designed to offer the best possible stepping stone to develop additional skills and introduce you to new areas of interest under the guidance of a PADI Instructor.
At Undersea Adventures we can offer you a flexible way of gaining either the ‘Adventure Diver’ or ‘Advanced Open Water Diver’ qualification.
The course comprises practical experience, with briefings as opposed to lectures, self study and knowledge reviews, with no quizzes or written tests with greater emphasis on maximum ‘in-water’ time. This is possibly the reason the PADI Adventure Diver Programme is so popular.
The manual, “Adventures in Diving” is interesting and easy to read and understand, with chapters describing the skills and techniques of each Adventure Dive in the PADI programme.

So what do I have to do?

To become a PADI Adventure Diver, you need your PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent), be at least 10yrs of age, and have the desire to experience more ‘undersea’ adventures. Pick any three dives from the following Adventure Dives (for 10 & 11 year olds choices are marked with*), get wet, enjoy, and earn your PADI Adventure Diver rating.
However, we’ve found the more popular option is to go straight to the PADI Advanced Open Water (min age 12yrs) qualification which comprises five Adventure Dives, two of which must be Navigation and Deep.
If you already have your Adventure Diver qualification you can quite simply ’upgrade’ by jumping in for two extra dives, providing you have completed the Navigation and Deep Adventure Dives.

Adventure Dives... the choices

A.W.A.R.E. Fish ID: Current estimates say that there are more than 21,000 fish species worldwide, this module helps you to focus on characteristics of the fish to make classification, and thereby, identification easier.

Boat Diving: Ideal if you have never completed a boat dive before, get to know the basics of site location, descent or shot lines and general safety procedures.

Deep Diving: For the purpose of this course, a deep dive is defined as being between 18 and 30 metres (Juniors, 18 - 21 metres). The pre-dive briefing will cover the technical and physiological areas of special concern when involved in deep diving. During the dive certain simple exercises will be carried out to illustrate the effects of pressure at depth.

Drift Diving: A very enjoyable way to dive, get your buoyancy right and drift gently along in the current, you take a float and line and the boat follows you!

Dry Suit Diving: If you’ve never tried it this is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to diving dry using our top quality ‘membrane’ type dry suits. If you have experienced diving dry, learn more about dry suit buoyancy control and safety techniques.

Multilevel Diving: Using the PADI wheel or a dive computer, learn advantages and safety techniques involved in extended dive times utilising a multilevel profile.

Navigation: This module aims to develop the basic techniques of underwater navigation using your compass, observations of the underwater terrain together with a few simple methods of measuring.

Night Diving: An introduction to the nocturnal marine life. The briefing for this dive covers the special equipment and techniques for diving at night.

Peak Performance Buoyancy: Provides an opportunity to refine your buoyancy control skills beyond the beginner level.

Search & Recovery Diving: Using compass patterns and a few other basic techniques you will set out to find and then recover objects conveniently ‘lost’, includes rigging and use of a lifting bag.

Underwater Naturalist: Promoting a better understanding of the abundant and diverse forms of life you will see on your dives, including identification of aquatic plant life and observation and identification of aquatic animals.

Underwater Photography: Your first attempt at capturing your diving experiences on film. An introduction to the basics of both underwater photography and the special techniques involved. NB. a small charge will be made to cover film, processing and batteries, see prices.

Wreck Diving: Learn the extra safety precautions and navigation skills involved in wreck diving, what to look for and what to avoid, then enjoy a dive on one of our local wrecks.

Extra!!!Extra!!!Extra!!!You can now obtain your PADI EANx (NITROX) qualification at the same time as completing either your Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver course.
As the EANx course dives do not involve any specific skills, you simply need to experience the use of NITROX whilst completing your Adventure Dives. This means that unlike any other PADI courses you can effectively do two courses at the same time AND SAVE LOTS OF MONEY!!
